Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Madhubani Paint collects when you use our website madhubanipaint.com and our Android app, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are a small business based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, selling handmade Mithila (Madhubani) paintings.

1. Data we collect

• Account details — your name, email address and phone number. Your password is stored only as a one-way hash; we can never see it. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your Google account ID and profile picture.
• Orders and addresses — delivery addresses you save, your cart, orders and order history, artworks you mark as interesting, questions you send us about an artwork, and back-in-stock alerts you request.
• Payments — payments are processed by Razorpay. We receive the payment status and reference IDs. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details.
• Technical data — our servers record your IP address and browser details in logs. In the Android app, Firebase collects crash reports, performance data and app-usage statistics, and stores a notification token so we can send you alerts.

2. How we use it

• To create and manage your account and keep you signed in.
• To process orders and payments and deliver your paintings.
• To send service emails, such as password-reset codes and order updates.
• To answer your questions and send the stock alerts you asked for.
• To keep the service secure, prevent fraud, and fix crashes and errors.

We do not sell your personal data, we do not show ads, and we do not send marketing emails.

3. Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers that run parts of our service for us:

• Amazon Web Services — hosting, database, image storage and email delivery (Amazon SES). Our servers are in Mumbai, India; images are delivered through Amazon CloudFront's global network.
• Razorpay — payment processing.
• Google — "Sign in with Google", and Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging and Performance Monitoring) in the Android app. Google may process this data outside India.
• Courier partners — your name, delivery address and phone number, only to deliver your order.

We may also disclose data where Indian law requires it.

4. Cookies

The website uses one essential session cookie to keep you signed in and remember your cart. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account is active. You can delete your account yourself in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account) or on our Delete your account page; this deletes your personal data immediately (or within 30 days if you ask us by email), except order and payment records that Indian tax and accounting laws require us to keep — we remove your name, phone number and street address from those. Password-reset codes expire after 15 minutes and are deleted once used. Server logs are kept only for a limited period.

6. Security

All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and access to our systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will inform you as the law requires if a breach affects you.

7. Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to access, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw your consent, or nominate someone to exercise these rights for you. Email us from the address on your account and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

8. Children

Our service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above.
